Aufbruch is a work of video art.
Nine internationally renowned classical musicians have been filmed and recorded whilst playing their instruments. The films have been arranged and presented according to audio-visual aesthetic criteria. The musicians play their own melodies, familiar phrases, rhythms and single notes. This music has been edited on a hard disk recording system. The soundtrack has been composed drawing on various methods such as overlapping, mixing and interweaving. Parallel cutting and alienation techniques have been used in editing the video material.
